Clinical Nutrition
Prof/ Hazem Hakim - Hospital General Director.
Nutrition is considered the cornerstone and a main complement in the health care system for patients, which I directly affect their health status and development. Paying attention to nutritional care and improving the nutritional status of patients in hospitals is one of the basics for reducing the severity of the disease and its complications or progression, thus reducing the length of stay of patients in hospitals and consequently reducing excess health expenditure, providing many supplies, medicines and other expenses. Therefore, Mansoura University Hospitals and Specialized Medical Hospital are always striving to keep up with all new developments in the medical field and provide better medical services to improve the medical system and health care for patients. A development and update plan has been set for therapeutic nutrition systems for inpatient departments according to their medical condition, patient's ability to eat, changes in diet prescription, specialized therapeutic meals, taking into account medical interactions for cases. A committee of specialists from different medical departments was set up to enable us to collect all the diagnoses listed in the hospital and determine the required nutritional requirements according to international recommendations for each disease. The caloric value was determined at an average of 75 kg per patient. Its components were carbohydrates, proteins and fats according to the recommendations for each disease and analyzed according to the Egyptian Food Composition Table issued by the National Institute of Nutrition. Service providers from the hospital's nutrition team were trained on the new meal updates. Specific dietary guidelines were prepared for each case and training was provided on health education so that patients' dietary behavior can be modified and their awareness raised before leaving the hospital. We always strive to keep Mansoura University and Specialized Medical Hospital as a symbol of outstanding medical services.
