Overview:

The diabetes and Endocrinology unit at Mansoura University is one of the oldest Endocrinology units in Egyptian universities. The unit provides many therapeutic, educational and research services.

Objectives of the unit:

• The unit aims to provide the best services for diabetics through outpatient clinics, which work daily and receive a large number of patients who are clinically examined and laboratory tests are performed where the case requires, as well as monthly treatment is dispensed, whether with tablets or insulin.
• The diabetes and Endocrinology unit is distinguished by providing excellent services to diabetics. The Diabetes Unit at Mansoura University is the leader in Egyptian universities in establishing a specialized clinic for diabetic foot care, through which many distinguished diagnostic and therapeutic services are provided to diabetic foot patients.

Services:

• The inpatient department provides all the necessary services for the treatment of critical cases through intensive care, which includes resuscitation and artificial respiration devices for the treatment of advanced cases and cases of diabetic coma.
• The internal department also provides some special rooms for hotel treatment, which allows the patient to receive the distinguished services provided by the hospital through a special room equipped with all amenities.
• The Endocrinology unit provides other distinguished services , as the unit contains the latest peripheral nerve efficiency measurement devices that help diagnose the various causes of peripheral nerve infections.
• The unit has the latest bone density measurement devices for the diagnosis of osteoporosis.
• The unit has specialized clinics for the treatment of obesity and various endocrine diseases.
• We are expanding the provision of new services for diabetics and endocrinologists in order to reach the best quality.

The message:

• The unit is keen to ensure that the level of services provided is comparable to international standards. Therefore, the unit organizes its weekly scientific meeting and the meeting is devoted to discussing the Department's cases in order to review what has been done and agree on the therapeutic steps to be followed. Thus, the Scientific Meeting provides an opportunity for cases to be discussed by all faculty members of the unit and determine the optimal treatment for them. This meeting is attended by doctors from outside the unit, as the invitation is open to all doctors interested in this field, and the meeting is an opportunity for young doctors to benefit from the practical experiences of the faculty members of the unit.
• There are many other educational services of the unit, such as conferences and scientific seminars.
• The Endocrinology unit contributes to the organization of the annual conference of the Department of Internal Medicine in addition to specialized conferences organized by the faculty members of the unit, such as the annual conference of the Egyptian society of diabetic foot.

Research activities:

• The unit carries out many research activities through a large number of scientific dissertations for Master's and doctoral degrees, as well as through scientific research carried out by faculty members, either individually or through the research project of the college.
• Many of these researches are published both in international conferences and in specialized medical journals
• The diabetes and Endocrinology unit at Mansoura University is one of the most representative Egyptian universities in many international scientific conferences.

• Diabetes and endocrine diseases
• Diseases of old age
• Diabetic foot
• Obesity diseases
• Diagnose the early symptoms of diabetes to prevent the development of the disease
• Introducing a treatment regimen for women with gestational diabetes
• Control blood sugar and diabetic blood pressure to prevent normal people from developing diabetes complications
• Introducing a weight control system to prevent diabetes
