To reach the level of infection control to international pharmaceutical standards, and for Specialized Medical Hospital in Mansoura to be a pioneer in applying infection control procedures and among the best five hundred hospitals in the world, and to obtain national accreditation and international recognition certificates. | Enhancing the medical service at Specialized Medical Hospital in Mansoura, ensuring infection prevention measures and making them a daily practice to prevent and contain hospital infections, as well as promoting scientific research and training programs, providing financial resources to the hospital, and contributing to ensuring a safe work environment for employees and a safe environment for patients until their condition improves. |
Strategic plan of the infection control unit:
- Formation of infection control committees in hospitals and medical centers
- Periodic meeting of the infection control committee (monthly) to adopt the infection control plan and policies and submit the report to the infection control Department of the Directorate
- The allocation of a nurse responsible for Infection Control works as a link between the hospital and the microbial diagnosis and Infection Control Unit, as well as the allocation of contact nurses in each department within the hospital works as a link between the department and the nurse responsible for Infection Control.
- Conducting awareness lectures on infection control policies and procedures for all health workers, including doctors, nurses and hospital workers.
- Provide a written copy of infection control policies, procedures and guidelines for implementation within hospitals.
- Implement the waste treatment policy within hospitals in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization.
- Make a policy for the use of antibiotics for each hospital every three months.
- An electronic network (intranet)works between the microbial diagnostics unit and the control and hospitals to receive the request of the allergy farmer (request)and to deliver the results.
- A monthly meeting of the infection control team was held within the microbial diagnosis and Infection Control Unit to follow up on the progress of work in all hospitals and follow up on developments.
- The work of the infection control manual at Mansoura University Hospitals contains infection control policies, guidelines and recommendations for Mansoura University Hospitals and medical centers.
- Making a policy for the selection and use of disinfectants and conducting proficiency tests within the laboratory of the microbial diagnostics and Infection Control Unit.
- Work out the ratios and rates of acquired infections within the hospital (Nosocomial and patient infection rates), the success rate, the results of smears and the outbreak of infection.
- The work and application of the food safety policy.
- Periodic survey of food handling workers in hospitals.
- Making infection control recommendations in laboratories within hospitals.
- The work of infection control policies in special units (intensive care, operations, endoscopy, dialysis and diabetic foot).
- The work and application of Infection control checklist during the passage of the team inside the hospitals
- Make posters with infection control guidelines (hand hygiene, protective clothing, medical waste, acute waste).
- Making a video to raise awareness of infection control measures and distributing it for display in all hospitals
- Provision and vaccination of health care workers (flu vaccination, viral hepatitis B).
- Making a policy for diagnosing and dealing with HIV infection patients within the hospital
- Preparations are underway for the following in the near future:
- Establishment of the viral diagnostics unit at the Department of microbiology and Medical Immunology
- Providing the remaining vaccinations for health care workers. (MMR, Varicella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and meningococcal vaccin)
